Welcome to the OFFICIAL
Fruit Pie Day 2011 Website

Important Dates for 2011:

Aug 26-27 - Most of the major Fruit Pie Festivals around the globe fall on one or both of these dates, though some Latin American countries still cling to the "closest Friday", which is September 2nd this year.

Aug 31 - International Fruit Pie Day (Traditional)

Look for the Fruit Pie Festival nearest you, or sponsor your own.

Things you need for a Fruit Pie Festival:

1. Guests

2. Hostess Fruit Pies (often arranged artistically, in many varieties, including the elusive Blueberry Fruit Pie if you can find it, and the misunderstood Chocolate Fruit Pie)

3. A menu (often potluck) where every dish (appetizer, entrée, side dish, dessert, drink) contains fruit.

4. Entertainment, examples include:

Fruit-themed movies (The Apple, Under the Cherry Moon, The Lemon Pail Kids, etc.)
Fruit-themed games (Apples to Apples, pin the stem on the cherry, bobbing for avocados, etc.)
Fruit-themed dance party (Bananarama, Tangerine Dream, Lemonheads, Strawberry Alarm Clock, The Cranberries, Eagle eye Cherry, Fiona Apple, Cherry Poppin Daddies, Moby Grape, Blind Lemon Jefferson, etc.)

As a kick-off to this week, fondly observed by so many around the world, we present this year's PowerPoint presentation: "How Fruit Pies Saved Civilization".
